Materials Recovery

Beyond Economic Repair?

Many Operators are faced with a dilemma when LRUs/Accessories are quoted and determined to be BER

  • Costs to return the unit; as is, loosely assembled
  • Availability of resources to re-evaluate the quote/repair approach
  • Additional cost of a second or third opinion
  • Lack of in depth visibility and other viable options
  • Units are most often scrapped following the first evaluation and the probable serviceable material remaining in the unit is lost by definition
  • The decision to scrap the LRU rests entirely with the operator and need not necessarily include the need to scrap all of the internal piece parts
  • Long term, the above action limits any ability to recover later BERs by utilizing serviceable piece parts from prior units

Alternative Approach – EVS 'MRS'

Independently re-evaluate the LRU and recover critical and valuable components from the unit prior to scrap and disposal of the balance of the unit
