Material Recovery

Engine Maintenance Management Component Solutions Material Recovery Warranty Management Airframe Check Management Damage Reporting

When an LRU is declared BER, an operator usually has little choice but to accept the diagnosis and face a fee to have the unit acceptably disposed of. EVS and their partners offer an alternative solution - Material Recovery. The process involves an independent assessment and if the BER decision is confirmed, the critical and valuable components are recovered from the unit prior to the scrap decision. The recovered parts are then tagged serviceable and stored for re-use on subsequent units or sold into the marketplace. The outcome is either a cost reduction on future repairs or an on-going revenue stream.

In addition to direct income, the solution provides less tangible but potentially greater benefits, such as a secondary review of BER criteria ensures appropriate diagnosis, as well as a confirmation of full piece part return from the current supplier. Over the long term it provides a viable pool of material to reduce future repair costs or even avoid a future BER, and a valuable insight into failure modes to direct PMA or repair development efforts (DER).

The MRS online system is managed by EVS for both our customers and recovery facilities. This gives full real time visibility of all material within the program. In addition the system produces automated reports for sales of components, stock, and material currently in the process. Potential buyers of material can visit our Storefront here.
